When a large beech tree fell in a storm in 2019, Alfio Bonanno saw the opportunity to transform the fallen tree crown into another extremely site-specific work, because the tree with the crown is located where it fell. The branches were entwined into a closed nest and, in collaboration with TICKON's friends, the nest was filled over the course of two years with large wooden balls, cut out with a chainsaw and then burned black – both for durability and for the visual impression.
Alfio Bonanno often works with this type of work, where the form creates a space within the space. This applies, for example, to his great work in TICKON, Mellem Blodbøg og Eg, but also i.a. in the two now no longer existing works in the Langelandske Kunsttårne, "Organisk Indtrængen", 2014 and "Nature's BZs", 2017.
